OK. On Tuesday, I set out to run 3 miles. I started around Lake Eola and got about 2/3 a lap and then began walking. When I got around a 1 lap, I started running again. I then finished up 2 more laps non-stop. So I did 3 miles. The first one with the walking took 13 minutes. The second lap I did in 7:50 and the third took 8:00 even. Not bad for not running in a while.
I went to the gym and did a short workout. 1 set each of decline bench press, leg press, tricep extensions (overhead), and calf raises. Did some hamstring stretching and strengthening and about 15 minutes of just ab work. Then, to top it all off, I got on the treadmill and ran another 1.5 miles. In total, I did 4.5 miles on Tuesday.
On Thursday, I wanted to repeat my workout. Didn't quite happen.
I didn't even try keeping track of my time. I did about 2.5 miles and then did some lifting at the gym. 1 set each of lat pulls, bicep curls, hamstring curls, and lower back. The lower back exercise was using a machine similar to a situp station. Then, I continued with my hamstring stretching and strengthening exercises, 6 inch leg lifts and medicine ball twists.
Unfortunately, I couldn't keep track of how much I was smoking these days, so my formula may be out the window. Too much to think about.
I will say this, though, my smoke session after a workout is great!

I think I have a formula
I walked to work on the coldest day of the year so far. It sure was refreshing. I started off with a smoke. I did get a half mile walk in though.
I had a couple more cigarettes at work. Then, I walked another two and half miles after work. I walked home, got changed, walked back to work because I couldn't find my wallet. I couldn't find it at work, so I walked back home again and found it in the shorts I wore the day before.
Yeah, Florida. It goes from 80 degrees one day to the 40s in the morning.
Then, I walked to my own office. I have a day job that pays the bills and my own business that I run with my girlfriend and we have an office. Both offices are conveniently located in opposite directions and exactly half a mile from home.
After a few hours of working on my website, I head home... walking of course. So I got 3 miles in today. I felt pretty good about it.
So here's the formula... for every smoke I have, I walk a mile. I wonder how this will work out. As long as I keep the miles and smokes in the low numbers, I think it works out OK. I can see this getting me into trouble if I jack up my smokes and my mileage, though.

OK. Just one more smoke.
I need to get out and run. I have the feeling in my legs. My gut is just too much for me to handle right now.
BUT I like smoking. I'm going to have a smoke in a minute. As soon as I stop typing, I am going to grab a cigarette. Sure life is great when I'm jogging, except for the fact that my knees kill me after running too hard and I have a habit of running too fast for what my body can handle. I like smoking except for the small little puss balls that form in my tonsils. Mmmm.
OK. I'm putting on my shoes and I'm heading outside. No, not the running shoes. My brown leather Thom McAns and I'm gonna get that ciggie lit up.
I just wish I could find that happy medium that lets me enjoy both worlds.
